Speaker Topic: Beyond Words: Interpreting Nonverbal Communication

December 6, 2006, 5:30 - 7:30 pm

Maggiano's Little Italy,516 N. Clark Street, Chicago (The Belaggio Room, enter through the restaurant)

Research shows that an amazing 60-90% of our communication is nonverbal. So just what is it that others are telling us with their gestures, expressions and other body language? What are we conveying to them? Come to this program and find out! Researcher and trainer Dr. Anne Beall will teach us the basics of reading others and show us how to interpret several elements of communication that are often overlooked in professional interactions.

Featured Speaker:

Anne E. Beall, Ph.D.
President
Beall Research and Training

Anne is president of Beall Research & Training, a firm that specializes in training people to read and use nonverbal communications more effectively. She has developed a range of seminars in this area, which she gives to corporations and organizations. She has written numerous book chapters and articles about emotional expressions, consumer psychology and marketing. Most recently, she published a revised edition of her 1993 book The Psychology of Gender (Guilford Press).

Anne received her M.S., M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Social Psychology from Yale University. In her spare time, she is an amateur photographer and avid runner.
