Recipients of the 2006 Spectra Awards will receive awards in eight categories recognizing excellence in business communication by Chicago-area communication professionals.

Pattie Schiele, Communication Director, Motorola Integrated Supply Chain
Pattie Schiele is director of Communications for Motorola’s Integrated Supply Chain, which comprises all global manufacturing facilities, as well as distribution centers, distributors, fulfillment centers, logistics providers, procurement, suppliers and wholesalers. She joined the team in July 2005 and is responsible for communications strategy, counsel and execution for both internal and external audiences.
Previously director of internal communication for Motorola’s Government & Enterprise Mobility Solutions (GEMS) business, Schiele joined Motorola in 1997. An advisor to the GEMS leadership team, she was instrumental in creating and implementing many of the business’ global internal communication strategies and programs, from quarterly town halls to leadership Web casts. In 2000, she earned the business’ prestigious ENCORE award for best practices in communication.
With 20 years of communication experience, Schiele also has worked for CCH INCORPORATED, Mid-Continent Agencies, Inc. and Steel Tank Institute. She has served as president of the Chicago chapter of Women in Communications, Inc., a national communications association, and received the chapter’s Distinguished Service Award in 1995. She is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and has led teams that have earned two IABC Gold Quill Awards of Excellence and one IABC Silver Quill Award of Excellence, as well as two IABC Chicago Spectra Awards. Schiele holds a bachelor's degree in communication from Northern Illinois University.
