The Spectra Awards

The 2008 IABC/Chicago Spectra Awards call for entries is now open.
The Spectra Awards recognize leading business communicators and the invaluable ways that communication – from strategy to action – strengthens the bottom line of any organization.

Download the call for entries.
Register and pay online now.

Entries are due May 6, 2008.

The Chicago Spectra Awards competition is closely based upon the Silver Quill competitions for our region.  Last year, Spectra presented awards in two groups - "The Strategy" and "The Works." The Strategy group included projects, programs and campaigns defined by a communications plan. The Works recognized the specific tactics that support the strategic communication process.

Entries for the Spectra Awards are judged by a panel of IABC professionals from other chapters in the U.S.

Consider nominating someone for a special award that recognizes contribution to business communication. There are three to choose from.

The Integrity Award

The "Communication Leadership Excellence" or Integrity Award is presented to a non-IABC member who, as an organizational leader, contributes to business communication and exemplifies the highest professional standards. These contributions include such achievements as initiating, directing, supporting or sustaining outstanding and effective communication programs. One award will be presented each year, provided a suitable candidate has been identified. Equal weight is given to each area of the following criteria:

Criteria:
  • The nominee shows exceptional leadership, management and communication skills.
  • The nominee shows a commitment to communication strategy and programs for both internal and external audiences.
  • The nominee uses effective personal communication with diverse audiences. He/she participates in the communication, above and beyond directing a communication staff.
  • The nominee demonstrates a commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards.
  • The nominee works within the geographical area served by the IABC/Chicago.
